Fukamushi Sencha —

 Rich, Full‑Bodied Premium Green Tea

 This high‑grade sencha is made from first‑harvest tea leaves that are deeply steamed and then fired at a high temperature. By blending five to seven carefully selected tea varieties, it achieves a dense, mellow sweetness and a deep, full-bodied flavor.

Fukamushi sencha is a type of Japanese green tea that is steamed for two to three times longer than regular sencha—about 90 to 120 seconds. This extended steaming softens the tea leaves and breaks them into finer particles, resulting in a rich, mellow, and deeply flavorful cup.

Because the leaves become finer, nutrients such as beta‑carotene, vitamin E, and chlorophyll are extracted more easily into the water, allowing you to enjoy more of the tea’s natural health benefits compared to standard sencha. Fukamushi sencha has recently gained attention for its potential role in supporting health, including helping prevent cancer, metabolic syndrome, and arteriosclerosis.

Tagashira’s fukamushi sencha is made from first‑harvest tea leaves from Kakegawa, Shizuoka. The leaves are deeply steamed, fired at high temperature, and then blended from four selected tea varieties. The result is a premium sencha with a rich, full-bodied flavor and restrained astringency.
